Maintenance Tips for Rebar Bending Blades and Dies
Proper maintenance of bending blades and dies is crucial for maintaining precision and extending equipment lifespan. In this guide, we cover the essential maintenance practices every operator should follow.
Daily Inspection
Before each shift, inspect the bending dies for:
- Visible cracks or chips on the bending surface
- Wear patterns that could affect bend angle accuracy
- Proper lubrication of moving parts
Cleaning Procedures
After every 500 bends, clean the die surfaces with a wire brush to remove metal particles and debris. Buildup can cause inconsistent bend radii and accelerate wear.
Lubrication Schedule
- Daily: Apply light machine oil to pivot points
- Weekly: Grease the hydraulic cylinder rods
- Monthly: Check and top up hydraulic fluid levels
Replacement Indicators
Replace bending dies when you notice:
- Bend angle deviation exceeding +/- 1 degree
- Visible grooves or scoring on the die surface
- Increased cycle times due to friction
Storage Tips
When storing spare dies, coat them with anti-rust oil and wrap in VCI paper. Store in a dry environment to prevent corrosion.
